If it weren’t for the development of LED Tape, we doubt that our growth would have been as dramatic if it happened in other LED markets. We featured the story of our growth in the video we made called Decades: The Story of GM Lighting – but as fun as it is to make a video, the real testament to our growth, and the growth of LED technology, can be seen in the year to year application images sent in by our customers.
But I digress! A bit more on our history…
Over twenty years ago, we came out with a line of under cabinet fixtures that soon became the industry standard for undercabinet lighting. LumenTask and LEDTask were lines that we developed as a result of listening to everyone from interior designers and architects, to electrical contractors and installers. This cemented a platform that we leveraged to introduce more undercabinet. Customer-friendly and installer approved! We coined the term ‘lightbars’ and added more options to our growing line – but then came LED Ribbon, and the market was hungry for this versatile and flexible light source.
If there’s anything we know besides lighting, it’s the people who specify lighting – and they loved LED Tape! I mentioned our application images earlier – when we announced our first Amazing Application Image Contest, we were gobsmacked by the response. And with each following contest – applications spanning residential, commercial and hospitality lighting design featured GM Lighting’s growing line of linear LED. Technologies like color-changing RGBW, Tunable and Switchable White (that enables multiple Kelvin temp. choices), COB encapsulated diode construction were introduced at our Dallas Mart headquarters, twice a year at the Dallas Lightovation Shows, annually at Lightfair and LEDucation, as well as counter days and GM rep gatherings all across the nation.
And now Canada. GM Canada is servicing the needs of the residential and commercial lighting markets in Canada! And we keep on growing!
